Table Games and the Poker Room
Live table play starts later in the day than the slot floor. Most evenings our tables open at 6:00 PM and typically run until 2:00 AM. Some third-party sources also reference extended operation to 4:00 AM on Friday and Saturday nights, which reflects the later rhythm of those peak days. Players who prefer felt games will see the core mix of blackjack, roulette, and Texas Hold’em poker.
The poker room is set up with three dedicated Texas Hold’em tables. Each table seats 11 players and the games are structured as $1/$2 spread limit cash play. These poker tables run from Wednesday through Sunday, with cards in the air from 6:00 PM. It is not a giant poker environment, but the schedule is steady and clear, which regulars tend to appreciate.
Alongside the live tables, the electronic blackjack terminals come back into the story. These machines are available during the broader slot floor hours, so when the live pit is closed or between shifts, there is still a blackjack-style option right on the main floor.

Entry rules are set by provincial law. The minimum legal age to gamble in Ontario is 19, and that is the standard we follow on property. One outside listing mentions 18 as the age limit, but that number is not aligned with Ontario regulations, so 19 remains the correct threshold for casino gaming.
How the Property Got Here
When the casino first opened its doors in 1999, it did so under the name OLG Casino Sault Ste. Marie. At that point, it held a particular status in the region. It was the first full-service, full-time casino operating in Northern Ontario, which was a major shift for local players who previously had no comparable venue.
For almost two decades, the location was managed directly by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. Then in 2017, OLG began a broader modernization program across the province. As part of that process, operations for this site transferred to Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited. Gateway, which is based in Burnaby, British Columbia, already managed a portfolio of casinos across Canada. With the change, Sault Ste. Marie joined that larger national group and the property was rebranded under the Gateway name.
